To be winter, the course was in great shape, and the people we met were very friendly and helpful. A bit pricey at $47 for the winter. Also, didn't enjoy the advertisements in the cart as we were going from one hole to the next - get enough of that plenty of other places. Very sad to hear that the club is moving towards privatization, thus no longer allowing public play, and becoming just another "look how wealthy we are" club. But, thankfully in this area we have plenty of very nice and public courses that believe that everyone should be able to enjoy the course, and not just those whose wallets or donations matter the most.

The woman who greeted us at the pro shop was very nice. The rest of the staff I encountered- indifferent.
The first thing I saw from the first tee was a tractor with two huge outriggers painting the fairway. Not sure if it was paint or fertilizer or what, but it got green stuff on my ball and shoes. (I had to change from sandals to sneakers because I didn't want the stuff getting on my feet.)
The modern electric carts were ruined by the addition of an obnoxious cart monitoring GPS system. The carts cut out without warning and gave snarky messages about going for the green in two and trying to drive a par four, which is not what we were doing at all.
And finally, the course was gimmicky in my opinion. It had too many blind landings for my tastes. I couldn't find a couple of balls that were not bad shots. The crazy elevation changes and total lack of flat lies is manageable. It doesn't play extremely difficult. It was in nice shape. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in very nice condition. At one of the ponds we commented about the pretty scum pattern :) We saw a few turtles...

The Boone's Trace staff might just be the friendliest folk in any golf club I've visited in Kentucky. I find a warm welcome in the pro shop jumpstarts my round before I've started onto the tee box. The new layout of the course on the front nine works well and eases players into the round, leaving those treacherous sloped fairways until later on the front. Greens are quick yet manageable. Fairways are neat and crisp, though the onslaught of the sprinkler washed out the most prized area on 14 at around 5 o' clock, making a clean approach more difficult. The rough is worth staying out of. You'll be rewarded for greens and fairways perhaps more than other, flatter courses in Kentucky. The club has done a lot to continue to improve the experience playing here, including updating the carts, which now have accurate GPS systems that track all the distances you'll need on your round. Food and bev are tasty and reasonably priced to boot!

Staff is excellent and courteous! The course is always is great shape and offers a variety of shots required of all golfers. Bring your "A Game" and use every club in the bag! The course improvements made over the past 3 years is a tribute to their dedication to provide a great golf experience. Restaurant staff is tops and food is great. Best of all, pace of play... it moves!

Each year this course and its facilities get better and better. This is easily one of the best slope style courses you will find in Kentucky and that combined with it's location along the Kentucky river and an awesome restaurant with TV's almost everywhere are three of the biggest traits that make this course unique.
