Definitely a tough course that isn't in pristine shape in terms of fairway condition. You will lose balls in the rough. Play preferred lie and just drop a ball near where you thought it was to keep play moving. The views are second to none, 100 percent worth playing! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to a friend visiting Hawaii. If you are OK sticking with irons off the tee it is very playable. I'm a 10 handicap and played to about that number here.

Pros: spectacular scenery and course lay-out.
Cons:
1. No practice facilities to hit balls before your round, not even a net. This is a real shame because it is a challenging course, if you're slightly off-line, you're likely to lose a ball.
2. No restaurant or lounge in the large club house. I was told it closed during Covid and never re-opened. Again a real shame as the views from the clubhouse would have been spectacular. This means that after your round, you might as well just go home. There is just a small snack bar where you can order some snacks/drinks through a window and this was closed when we finished our round around 4pm.
3. Fairways aren't in great condition for a course this stunning although quite playable with preferred lies. I assume the greens would normally be good (they had just been aerated).

The Royal Hawaiian Golf Course is the most stunningly beautiful golf course I have ever seen, and is also fun and challenging. The fairways and greens are well kept, and unsurprisingly surrounded by lush plant life. All of the staff are welcoming, courteous, and helpful. I will definitely be back to play this course again.

Epic golf course and amazing views, a must play if you’re in town for sure. The front 9 is all in the jungle with very beautiful scenic views and greenery everywhere. The rough is not maintained well or trimmed so any stray balls are likely lost, be sure to keep extra balls, At least 1 per handicap point. If you’re in the fairway and fairly accurate it’s not that difficult of a course, pretty short overall. Definitely more of a scenic round and enjoying the nature for sure. Still a lot of challenging holes and shots though. Definitely do not recommend for beginners unless you’re ok with losing a lot of balls or just want to see the views.

Beautiful course!! I felt like I was in Jurassic Park!! This was more for the views than it was for golfing. As a novice golfer, this course was difficult. Bring a lot of balls.. you’re going to need it. The greens were very inconsistent. On the plus side, the staff were outstanding and very helpful. Cart comes with tees and towels. Facilities were well kept and food and drink prices were great for an expensive course. They made the sandwiches fresh. Only bad thing was the hotdogs, it’s was old and overcooked. Highly recommended for the beautiful scenery.
