Spirit Hollow Golf Course

Absolutely love the golf course. Have now tried out the top golf type area & that is alot of fun for all

In past years we had gone to spirit hollow with as many as 24 guys. Won’t go again. We came down for a short trip only five of our guys this time. We called ahead and even emailed to ask if a five-some was ok. We were told it was as we weren’t coming in peak season. When we arrived the head pro laid into us and we told him that whoever booked our trip from spirit hollow told us it would be okay. His response “Well I didn’t say it was okay!!!!” They ended up letting us go but he told us angrily “you better keep pace.” When we made the turn in an hour and 43 minutes he was outside and one of our guys looked at him and said “hour and 43 minutes on the front nine is that fast enough?!?!” So yeah we kept pace just fine. When our round was done one of our guys was taking his shoes off and changing into sandals and again the head pro walked by and angrily said “put your shoes back on!” We walked into the bar and restaurant to eat and the air conditioning was out at the bar on a 90+ degree humid Iowa day. We understood not their fault these things do happen in Iowa but nonetheless it made our experience worse. Next we sat at the bar and ordered food. Food took forever. Four of us got our hot food but the fifth guy who ordered a chicken salad didn’t get his till ten minutes later. And when it finally came out we found out they were out of chicken for the chicken salad? What?!!? Not only did he get to sit there and watch us eat for ten minutes when his order finally came out it was totally messed up. A salad! They can’t get a salad out on time or get it right? We came back to our home club and told the guys who did not go about our experience. We won’t be back. It’s a shame we used to go down there and rent the cabins and bring a lot of guys. We spend tens of thousands as a group at places like Bandon dunes, sand valley and even fyre lake. We love the experience at the keiser family owned courses like Bandon, sand etc. the owner of fyre loves us and is always happy to see us. We’ll do our short trips down there from now on. Even though fyre doesn’t have the facilities that spirit hollow does at least they know how to treat groups. Spirit should send staff over to fyre to see how it’s done. Especially the head pro. Spirit could be great but massive customer service overhaul is needed.

Very nice public golf course. It was in great shape, greens were fairly fast and not full of ball marks. Beautiful topography, loved the back nine links style.

Excellent golf course. A bit challenging in places but lots of fun. Course was in great shape. Can't say enough about the staff. They were great. Courteous and willing to help with anything. I will definitely be back multiple times.

A beautiful but unforgiving golf course. Make sure to hit straight ir bring lots of balls. I think the course got about 15 at least from me.
