The birthplace of the US Open, what a treat, history everywhere you look, stunning course

I was fortunate enough to play this remarkable course in a CWGA team tournament against Rhode Island. The experience left me eagerly anticipating a return visit, especially to follow the players at the US Senior Open 2024 and walk the course again. One notable change during the tournament was that the normal #1 hole was played as #10. This added an interesting twist for those familiar with the course's usual layout. Attempting to revisit the clubhouse, I found it roped off for TV and corporate use, a stark contrast to the previous experience of having a lovely team dinner there. Though I couldn't step inside this time, the memory of that dinner lingered. The use of drone technology to capture the beauty of the coast, the golf course, and the clubhouse was impressive. It provided a stunning aerial view that showcased the course's picturesque landscape. A particularly unforgettable moment occurred after playing the course. As I was driving out at dusk, I witnessed a Harley low rider driving in, with the rider in full leathers and a putter quiver on his back. He pulled over to the putting green, got off his bike, and began practicing his putting. This unique and vivid memory encapsulates the spirit and charm of the course. Overall, Newport Country Club is a venue that combines the allure of its coastal beauty with the excellence of its golfing facilities. It's a place that leaves lasting impressions and unforgettable memories.

I had the opportunity of a lifetime to play as a guest on this beautiful, historic course. The time spent with my friend here is something I will always cherish.

I've died and gone to golf heaven, I've been trying to get on this course since the early 80's, and never even coming close to stepping foot on the property. Newport Country Club, founded in 1893, is a historic private golf club in Rhode Island, that hosted both the first U.S. Amateur Championship and the first U.S. Open in 1895. Newport Country Club is one of the founding 5 members of the United States Golf Association and is one of the most historical courses in the United States. The grand old clubhouse built by Whitney Warren is what just stands out so much when you first arrive. What an incredible experience to play a course that has had a big part in the evolution of golf in the United States and one that has so much historical significance. I can remember watching Tiger Woods win the US Am on TV here, but would never thought I would get a chance to play such an exclusive , that the US Presidents play in their free time...!
